Book Rec: Never Lie by Freida McFadden – Musical Aesthetics

It has recently grabbed my attention that on certain social media platforms Book Bloggers try to lure readers into electing a novel by offering them a visual promo based on the book’s aesthetics. I must admit – as it would be hypocritical to do so otherwise – that I too sometimes select my next read based on these. However, I think another very strong sense that can be appealed to besides seeing is hearing. Don’t you ever have that feeling of dawning realization upon hearing a song that the tune in question fits a certain book or character perfectly? I do.

This time around take a listen to what Freida McFadden’s Never Lie sounds like.

Summary

In a nutshell, this book follows Tricia and Eathan, newlyweds, who become stranded in a Victorian manor in the middle of nowhere due to a vicious snowstorm with absolutely no means to contact the outside world. The prominent property they find themselves confined to once belonged to a well-known psychiatrist named Dr. Adrianne Hale, whose cassette tape recordings about her patients are uncovered by Tricia – and along with them, terrible secrets resurface, too. We witness the events unfolding from the perspective of both female main characters, jumping from a past timeline to the present one.
